Urmila joins Millionaire Club

Urmila has decided to associate herself with the Millionaire Club Card.

Urmila Matondkar might be one of the hottest stars around, but she's never forgotten her middle class roots. No wonder then that the Marathi mulgi decided to associate herself with the Millionaire Club Card, which she launched along with Country Club India Ltd Chairman and Managing Director, Y Rajeev Reddy, at a glittering function on Tuesday in Mumbai. Said Urmila about her association with CCIL, "They're rock-solid people with an established name and it's wonderful to work with them." Y Rajeev Reddy said, "The Millionaire Club Card is our response to a growing necessity of a new India. The product reinforces our core values of accessibility and affordability in lifestyle products." Although she admitted that she hasn't been to the club in Mumbai, Urmila recalled with pleasure the many times she has been to the one in Hyderabad. "That was a long time ago when more shootings used to take place in Hyderabad. Everybody who has been to the club there remembers it," she said. Urmila thinks the concept of the Millionaire Club Card is excellent because, for a family, there are never enough places that offer the right ambience and opportunities to relax and enjoy themselves. The svelte actress, whose last film Benaras did not find much success at the box office, is now eagerly awaiting the release of Vikram Bhatt's Speed at the end of the month. "It's an action packed thriller with a young and frothy cast and crew," she says. Urmila, whose last few releases have all been serious, intense roles, now wants to do something more light. "I don't think it was a conscious decision to do serious roles. I can't do something only to prove a point. It's a natural process in the growth of an actor. But a light role would be welcome as I love comedy the best," she says with a smile.

I want to shine as the host, says Bipasha Basu

Bipasha Basu is super excited about hosting the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ ceremony in Portugal

Bipasha Basu is hosting the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ ceremony at the Benfica Stadium in Lisbon, Portugal on July 7. The event is expected to have performances by Jennifer Lopez, Dulce Pontes, Chaka Khan, Jose Carreras, Alessandro Safina and Joaquin Coartes. Special guests include Neil Armstrong and Cristiano Ronaldo.
As she leaves for Portugal today, Bipasha says, “I am a little nervous and also excited like a little girl. Due to my poor eyesight, I’ve turned down many offers to host award and corporate functions in the past. I was afraid I would not be able to read the teleprompter. But hosting this event was too good to resist, so I’ve decided to wear contact lenses.”
She has been wearing the lenses for the last two days, but it’s not suiting her too well. “I wore it for five hours and ended with a headache. I just hope I manage it,” she says.Another problem is the script for the event. “I was supposed to get it some time back, but apparently the director of the show was not happy with the script. I guess I will have to read it during the flight. Please pray that everything goes well for me,” she says.
However, there is one thing that Bipasha is very confident about and that is the clothes that she will be wearing for the event. “I will be wearing a bright fuchsia pink saree with red ruby neck piece. I want to shine a bit,” she says with a grin.
“Since I will be representing India, I thought it’s best to wear a saree. It is entirely my idea. I don’t care if people rip me apart for my choice of a saree, or people say I have exposed too much cleavage or tummy!” she says, adding, “I will later change to a soft ivory coloured gown. I didn’t want to go for a western designer like Armani, so I chose a gown by Gauri Naini.”
Bipasha says it’s a huge challenge to be sharing stage with some of the best talents in the world. “I am truly excited about meeting all of them. Please wish me all the luck,” she says.

Esha Deol turns item girl for 'Sunday'

Esha Deol has so far shunned item numbers. But for Rohit Shetty’s movie Sunday , she has made an exception. When the film’s producer Kumar Mangat first sent a message to Esha to do an item song in ‘Sunday’, the actress showed no interest. But then Mangat personally called Esha and asked her if she would do the song.

Esha laid down a condition. She said she would do the song only if it was better than ‘Beedi Jalaile’ in Omkara .When Esha heard the song, titled ‘Kya Kashmakash Hai’, she liked it immensely and agreed to do it. The song, sung by Shivani Kashyap and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, comes in the film’s pre-climax scenes. It shows Esha dancing in a nightclub. The song also features the movie’s stars – Ajay Devgan , Irrfan Khan , Ayesha Takia , Arshad Warsi and Anjana Sukhani .The item has more than a thousand dancers as extras. ‘Sunday’ also features Tusshar Kapoor in a special song appearance.

Aishwarya Ranked Among The 10 Most Beautiful Women of All Time

Vague magazine has ranked Aishwarya Rai one of the Top Ten Living Goddesses of All Time. The publication's rankings list a bevy of popular beauties along with readers comments.Aishwarya attracts the highest praise from readers who rate her as the 'archetypal living goddess' who needs no adornment, liposuction, botox injections, facial implants or other enhancements to continue to stun the world with her awesome looks.Readers have also chosen other movie actresses such as Angelina Jolie in the Top Ten Pantheon of desirable women. But the overwhelming reaction of those surveyed is that Angelina's pout is a plastic fabrication created by using four ounces of 'restylane' lip filler. Some have gone as far as calling her 'fish face' and think that without daily top ups of the botox needle Angelina's face will soon be as saggy as her pre-liposuction derriere. Christy Turlington ranks alongside Rai and Joile and seems to have a broad appeal in the US for an 'unsullied kind of prettiness'.Meanwhile Jordan's Queen Rania has mysteriously managed to slither her way into the rankings "probably because she paid the magazine's editors or threatened them with a lawwsuit if not included" according to one reader's comment.Mystery too surrounds the inclusion of TV cook Nigella Lawson whose years of on-screen simpering in daft itsy bitsy cashmere cardies have left a nervous twitch at the side of her mouth that appears only pacified with copious doses of intra-nasal cocaine every day.Kate Moss makes the grade, but only because the magazine seemed to be running out of names in the blonde section of its listings after Paris Hilton was scratched because she was in jail at the time the July edition of the magazine hit the newsstands. And finally Charlotte of Monaco's inclusion has been laughed at by 95% of the magazine's readers who say that she may be "sorta pretty" that her good looks only appeal to the McDonalds-eating public and that really she has a very common little face "to match the common flat-chested little body" that could be anybody's: "And probably is!""And none of these little beauties compares to our Aishwarya!" seems to be the final verdict.

Rimi Sen drives boys crazy!

Rimi has gone ahead and bought a sporty BMW.

You might think she's a petite, pretty thing, but hold on looks can be deceiving. And with so many shades of pancake on almost everything behind that is; ask our Bollywood beauties!
We have one such, Rimi Sen, who rarely displays those typical girlie traits like other PYTs. In fact, the Bong bombshell doesn't even flaunt a boyfriend; at least we haven't got a whiff of any brewing romance in her life.
What really turns on this gal are hot wheels. Yeah, while most filmis would prefer a classy Mercedes, apparently Rimi has gone ahead and bought a sporty BMW. And that's not all. She doesn't like being driven; she loves to have the wheel in her control. And in turn drive the boys crazy. So all you guys dying to 'take her for a ride', can take a walk.

Urmila Matondkar love the city – NYC

It seems NYC has become Bollywood stars favorite place in the world. Now it has also become home like for Urmila Matondkar. Here she explains why - "You're right, I love the city. I feel more at home, or as much at home in New York as I do in Mumbai. Recently, I was there for an awards show, and a day after the event, I just took off. I wanted to do nothing more than walk on the streets there. The organizers insisted on sending some security with me, but I didn't want to go around with any baggage. I just didn't care; I wanted to walk around like a free-bird, with the wind blowing in my face. I raced in and out of shops, stopping only to grab a bit. And NY is so full of Indians that I was spotted right away, and by the end of it, there were hordes of desis trailing behind me but I wasn't bothered."

Bipasha Basu has decided to take a break from the press

While John Abraham spoke to media about his troubled relationship with girlfriend Bipasha Basu, Bips prefer to keep her mouth shut. A close pal of a stars reveals, "After John spoke to a select group of the media and clarified that all's well in their relationship, Bipasha has decided to take a break from the press. She doesn't want to talk fearing that it might lead to some other controversy."

Manisha’s new fetish!

She has always been more of an actor than a dancer, but Manisha Koirala is doing everything to explore her love for the art form. Not many know that she has been taking salsa lessons from choreographer Sandip Soparrkar since the past year and loves every moment of it.
Says Manisha, “I have had a fetish for dancing since childhood, but it’s only recently that I started exploring Latin-American dance forms. I think it’s quiet a fluent dance technique, and makes you feel happy.” And not only is she exploring the dance form, the actor is also doing her bit to encourage Indians to master the art.
Manisha is all set to support professional dancers from Sandip’s institute who will represent India at the Asian Latin- American dance championship this weekend in Hong Kong.
“There is a warm-up session today for this dancer couple who stood fourth in Sri Lanka and will now go for the championship in Hong Kong. In fact, if they manage to feature in the top twenty at Hong Kong, they will get a chance to enter the Asian games,” she explains.
Manisha might even break into an impromptu jig at the session today. “Many of my cousins are into salsa, so I have more reason to experiment with it,” she says. However she has been a trained classical dancer since the age of three and chooses to stay loyal to her love for Kathak.
“Kathak is something I have done ever since I was a kid and I definitely relate to it much more. Salsa is new, and I guess every genre has its own charm. Plus, I’ll always have the choice of using this talent in my films,” she adds.
Well, with someone as gorgeous as her doing salsa, we think this will surely be a treat to watch onscreen!

Preity to replace Priyanka?

DROPPED OUT: Priyanka Chopra, who was earlier said to be doing the title role in Main Aur Mrs Khanna , is no longer dong the film

When Preity Zinta is said to have heard the script, she loved it and there is a good chance that she will give the nod for this one.

Priyanka Chopra, who was earlier said to be doing the title role in Main Aur Mrs Khanna , is no longer dong the film. "Salman and Govinda have already been signed on for the film along with Sohail ," says an inside source, on the condition of anonymity. "
And the makers are on the look out for a girl who can play Mrs Khanna. Earlier, Priyanka was rumoured to be doing it, but then either there was a date problem or she wasn't happy with the cast of the film. Now it's a toss up between Ayesha Takia and Preity Zinta.
There was news that Ayesha has been signed on, but that is not true. She is one of the actresses finalised for the role but she hasn't signed on the dotted line as yet. In fact, Preity Zinta is still in the reckoning.
Apparently, when Preity Zinta is said to have heard the script, she loved it and there is a good chance she will give the nod for this one . Main Aur Mrs Khanna is being directed by newcomer Prem R Soni, and shooting for the film is slated to begin sometime in September this year. The film is to be shot entirely in one schedule at an international airport. The permissions are still being put in place, but the makers are looking at Australia as a likely location.
"It is a rom com (romantic comedy) which is very contemporary - almost in the Hum Tum mould. The tussle over the female lead is because this one is a dream role, and any actress would love to do it, especially considering Salman and Govinda are already in the film," adds the source. Now let's wait and watch who the lucky girl is shall we?

Ayesha Takia turns too pricey

Ayesha Takia has recentlty been on a walking out spree her first being the Hindi remake of Ghajini, has also walked out of Alladin and the Mystery of the Lamp. Takia was supposed to play the female lead role of Princess Jasmine opposite Ritesh Deshmukh who plays Alladin in the film andAmitabh Bachchan acts in the film as the Genie. At the moment, Ayesha is in Hyderabad, shooting the final schedule for Kumar Mangat’s Sunday. Things did not work out as planned, she says eventhough she would still love to work with Sujoy in future as she has already worked with him in Home Delivery before.Roumours have it that the reason why Ayesha left the project is because Ramesh Sippy and Rohan Sippy who were earlier supposed to produce the film along with Adlabs have dissociated themselves from the film and then on Sujoy’s budget was drastically cut and he could not offer Ayesha the fee she was demanding. While she was debating, she was offered Boney Kapoor’s remake of Pokhiri and she decided to pass up on Sujoy’s offer. Sujoy is planning to produce the film himself and aiming for a 2008 release. Buzz is, Eros Entertainment might play a role in financing the film.

Aishwarya Rai decries "Fair and Handsome" skin whitening cream

Living goddess and Bollywood movie queen Aishwarya Rai has joined in the criticism of a new wonder product that bleaches dark Asian skin.Speaking to the press today Rai said that the "Fair and Handsome" sticky lotion was produced by confidence tricksters and caused huge zitty acne to boil up on users' faces."Why do they do it? To look European? Do any of you know how many billions of pounds are spent each year by Caucasians on sun tan products that briefly make skin look the same color as Asian after the annual two week fry-up on the Costa Brava?"Rai's criticism comes as Bollywood A-Lister Shah Rukh Khan signed up to a huge TV promotional campaign marketing the skin-bleaching cream. His face will adorn a slick new ad campaign with "before-and-after" photos showing his rugged good looks becoming lighter skinned."I don't know why he's doing it really," Rai protested."It's not as if he's run out of money! "Somebody maybe persuaded him to put his name to this tacky promo."But real men just don't go in for that here in India."

Mallika-Mahesh Bhatt patch-up ?

Rumour has it that Mallika Sherawat has patched up with mentor Mahesh Bhatt.

Ever since Mallika Sherawat stepped out of the Bhatt camp and took up films with outside banners, there have been stories circulating about the 'strained' relationship between the quote queen and mentor Mahesh Bhatt.
But looks like that's a thing of the past now. An insider informs us that Mallika never really rebelled and that she has always had a great affection for Mahesh Bhatt. "In fact, she never tires of expressing this to her friends," says the source. What's more, we hear even Mahesh Bhatt can't stop praising the actress these days.
He insists that though there are many actresses who started their careers with him, Mallika is the smartest of the lot. "That's because whatever you tell her, she takes it down and digests it. She first understands what she doesn't know - so that she can learn more," he was overhead saying about the Sherawat babe

ESHA DEOL: "NO ONE IS AS GOOD LOOKING AS MY FATHER"

Bollywood's action girl says action and comic roles go well with her because action and a sense of humor are part of the Deol lineage.

Esha Deol has been associated with action films since she struck it big in Bollywood with her role as Sheena in Dhoom (2004)
Before Dhoom Esha had styled herself in the mold of a well clothed demure dream girl personified by her mother Hema Malini. For the action film, producer Aditya Chopra asked her to sex-up her image and Esha readily agreed reinventing herself as a skin showing sex siren.
Subsequent films such as Dus (2005) and the ready to be released Cash (2007) have reinforced Eash’s image as an action girl.
The Deol girl recently attended the launch of her new film 123, a comedy that additionally stars Kajol's sister Tanisha, Tusshar Kapoor and Upen Patel
When asked why the action girl was opting for a comedy this time Esha, with shades of papa Dharamendra’s mischief on her face responded, "Humor is a very important ingredient of life and I live my life with a sense of humor."
The tag of an action girl is rare for an Indian leading lady, but Esha knows precisely why it has been associated with her.
"Action runs in my blood and I think action," she responds cheekily.
Esha says she had to work hard for her role in the slick thriller Cash. She was sent to a motor training school where she spent 4-5 days mastering the skills required to pivot a car 360 or 180 degrees.
Esha is keen to work with mother Hema one day and says all they are waiting for is a good script.
She is upbeat about the film Apne, released in theaters this weekend, starring her father Dharmendra and half brothers Sunny and Bobby.
"Their roles are outstanding, different, real and touching to the heart," says Esha
"They have lucked out this time and I'm now waiting for my chance," she adds.
The clincher from the spirited Deol girl comes when she explains why Apne is bound to succeed at the Box Office, using what we think was a Jat yamla pagla diwana… logic.
"Till today no one is as good looking as my father!" she says with a smirk.

Bollywood newcomer Kangana Ranaut's personal assistant on Wednesday filed a complaint with police that he was receiving threatening calls from a person in this city. Shrikant Sridhar Sawant, 34, filed a complaint at Bhoiwada police station that said a man identifying himself as don Mayraj had been calling him repeatedly since Tuesday and threatening him, police said. According to the complaint, Mayraj asked Sawant to send the actress to him for an "overnight stay" and assured him a sum of Rs five lakh for the same. "In case Sawant did not send Kangana, Mayraj threatened to kill him and throw acid on her face. Due to this, a complaint of criminal intimidation was filed today," said a senior police official.

WOULD YOU FIND RANI MUKHERJEE PLAYING A MIDDLE CLASS SEX WORKER OFFENSIVE?

In the film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Rani plays a small town girl from a respectable middle class family who leaves her home lured by city life. However, confronted by adversities she is eventually forced to resort to prostitution to make a living.

In the film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Rani plays a small town girl from a respectable middle class family who leaves her home lured by city life. However, confronted by adversities she is eventually forced to resort to prostitution to make a living.
Yash Raj Films (YRF), the production company, isn't sure the plot will go down well with the audience.
A girl from a poor family being forced into prostitution is a tried and tested plot that has readily been accepted by audiences in the past and based on which some of memorable and sensitive films like Amar Prem (1971, Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore) have been made.
However, the concept of a middle class woman resorting to prostitution is giving YRF honchos cold feet, because they feel it may not go down well with the predominantly middle class audiences.
Rattled by two lackluster releases this year - Ta Ra Rum Pum (Saif, Rani) and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (Abhishek, Preity, Lara, Bobby) - YRF does not want to take chances.
"We don't know how kindly the viewers are going to take the fact that a woman from a middle-class family becomes a sex worker in times of crisis. Surely, we are giving it a thought. After the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom debacle we want to play it safe," a source told Mumbai Mirror.
To conform with the YRF image the film has been kept family oriented by emphasizing the mother-daughter relationship in the plot. However, no one is sure if that is enough.
The problem of course is filming is nearly complete and all they can do now is tweak Rani's role through some deft editing.
"Yashraj films are always meant for family viewing. We don't want to outrage our viewers' sensibilities. Saying so, we can't have any last minute changes as the film has been mostly shot. We intend to release the film in September."
Yet another damper for YRF is the fact Rani also plays a sex worker in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya.

Bipasha to do an art film

Of late, Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has been making more news for her private life than her professional one.
But, while her personal life may be facing the pangs of uncertainty, the sexy actress is very confident about her professional moves.
She is all set to act in an art movie, a first for the actress. Titled Pankh , the film is being produced by Sanjay Gupta's new production house.
And while Bipasha is reluctant to divulge details, an insider tells us that the topic is pretty controversial in nature.
From playing the sultry seductress in Jism to doing an art film, the Bong babe's certainly come a long way.

Nothing wrong with Rai

Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan is angry with the media for saying that his family visited several temples and performed rituals because of a flaw in the horoscope of his new daughter-in-law, actress Aishwarya Rai. “I have not seen Aishwarya’s horoscope. Neither has she. Two people have decided to get married ... she’s a blessing to the family,” the actor told the Hindustan Times newspaper.
Bachchan’s actor son Abhishek married Rai, a former beauty queen and one of India’s top actresses, in a glittering ceremony in April. The Indian media have reported that both families made religious offerings at temples in northern India considered auspicious among Hindus. The reports also claimed that Rai is “manglik” or has Mars in her astrological chart, a condition many in the conservative country believe can be disastrous for marriage. Some news reports suggested that Rai underwent a number of rituals before the marriage took place to end her “manglik” status. Bachchan has always denied those reports. “I ask you as a citizen, is it a crime to go to a temple?” Bachchan said in the interview. Abhishek, 31, and Rai, 33, have worked together in several movies. In their most recent collaboration, ‘Guru’, Bachchan plays a man from a small Indian village who works his way up to becoming a top industrialist, while Rai plays his supportive wife. The two also starred in the period drama ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Kuch Na Kaho’ or ‘Say No More’, and ‘Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke’ or ‘Two and a Half Words of Love’.

SUSHMITA SEN: NOT JUST ANOTHER BENGALI BOMBSHELL!

The mantra of Sushmita Sen, "Doing it my way," has brought her through many highs and lows. Still the former pageant winner keeps maintaining her existence based on her own principles.
Other that the fact that they're all Bengalis in the Hindi film world, Sushmita has little in common with Kajol, Bipasha, Rani, Riya and Rainma Sen. She's the only one among them to have won the coveted title of Miss Universe. And also the only one to have started a family before marriage. That's Sush for you, always taking her own direction.
Besides having worked with luminaries such as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, Sush also enjoys a fat endorsement account. She promotes textiles franchise Carmichael House, Kiah Diamonds the jewelry line, Diva Jeans for Levi's, and timepiece line Tag Heuer.
The Bengali babe, has also had a string of male admirers, including then-married director Vikram Bhatt, Sanjay Narang, Randeep Hooda and now Manav Menon. Bhatt even made a film about their relationship and the actress subsequently told film glossies, "I don't know Vikram Bhatt".
Her adoption of daughter Renee raised eyebrows, but the tall actress didn't care. Even Hollywood stars would not be so candid! She always followed her own rules, unlike much of the industry.
The mantra of Sushmita Sen, "Doing it my way," has brought her through many highs and lows. Still the former pageant winner keeps maintaining her existence based on her principles.
In an interview with TOI, the generally expressive Sush reminisced selectively about her career, life, and love.
When asked about how life is going, she answered "When you're talking to a lady, you know how pregnant the pause can be. I'm right now in a very relaxed state of mind. I'm very content with life."
In regards to her relationship with admaker Manav Menon, she says, "I'm in love with life."
Confronted about her vague reply, she responds with her famous sense of humor. "Let me tell you about Harry and Sally. They share a perfect relationship. They go out for dinner twice a week. Harry goes on Mondays and Fridays. Sally goes out on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Does that answer your question?"
Sushmita, who has just returned from the filming of Dul ha Mil Gaya in the West Indies, spoke about her experience.
”I'm so in love with my director Mudassar Aziz's work. I went to Trinidad 13 years ago, almost as a child, and now I went as a woman. It was one of the many countries I visited as Miss Universe. As a state guest of Trinidad I had signed in the log book along with Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.” Did the fan hoopla get overwhelming? "The Caribbean is warm in every which way. The people are very friendly. At times like this, having my own space doesn't matter. The people just overwhelm you with their warmth."
And how was her Caribbean cruise? "My crew didn't give me a single day to cruise. We had Sundays off. But everything is shut on Sundays in Trinidad. I asked my unit to change the off-day. We shot so much on the beaches, they felt like home.

Did the star don a swimsuit?

"I'm sure you'd like the answer to be yes. And it is yes, but with a sarong. On the beach you've to wear a suitable attire. I'm happy to tell you that I'm not wearing a gown on the beach. I feel Dul ha Mil Gaya retains a sense of humor while telling a story. After so many years, I finally have a film that I can watch as a member of the audience. I've never played a character like Shimmer. It's my first full-on comedy."
While it's not what you'd expect from the glamorous film star, Sushmita always totes a portable stove, Assamese tea leaves, and bits of ginger for the perfect ginger tea. She knows how to make herself feel at home no matter where she is shooting.
Sush has faced a rivalry with Ash ever since entering the industry. The fact that both are pageant winners, ex-models, tall and glamorous didn't help matters. Yet Sush with her outspokenness about things like her plastic surgery and relationships, contrasted with the demure and reserved Ash. Now that both are doing films based on Rani Laxmibai, the competition is renewed. The Sen babe will produce and star in Rani ki Jhansi while Ash will act in a film with a similar role. Only time will tell if the Pali Hill princess will emerge victorious, but with a spirit like hers, it's hard not to hope she does!

Celina Jaitley may replace Aishwarya Rai

Rumours have it that Celina Jaitley will replace the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Chandraprakash Dwivedi ’s ‘Prithviraj Chauhan’.Dwivedi, who made news with Pinjar , a film that was set during partition, had shown interest to make another periodical based on the life of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and was keen to cast Ash in the female lead role.
Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi too wanted to make a film on Prithviraj and he had approached Ash to play the same role. It was Ajay Devgan who was to play Santoshi’s Prithviraj Chauhan. "I will be a part of that director’s film, who launches his movie first," Ash had said then. However, rumours now have it that Dwivedi is keen to cast Celina in the lead role.Insiders also say that Ash’s recent marriage to Abhishek Bachchan has made the director consider Celina for the stellar role.A source close to Celina confirmed that Dwivedi was considering Celina to play the Rajkumari with whom Prithviraj Chauhan falls in love."Celina has been approached for the said role but it is too premature to say anything now."The source added that Celina has been wanting to do a period film for a while now."If things work out between the director and her then this is one role that she does not want to miss out on. Considering that she likes to get into the skin of the characters she plays, she will not do a thorough research for the role. She will give it her best shot," the source said. But a source close to director Dwivedi says, "A film like Prithviraj Chauhan requires massive funds and Dwivedi is looking out for a business house to finance the film. All talks are in the initial stages and star cast at this point, is nothing but mere speculation. Celina is very much there on Dwivedi’s mind."

Shilpa's not fighting off the men

She's been called the best body in Bollywood, but Shilpa Shetty reveals that she's still single.
"I'll settle down as soon as I get a guy. Right now, no plans, no guy. I'm not really fighting them off!" the star says with a smile.
And she puts her stunning figure down to good genetics, adding that she's not prepared to risk her health just to look good.
"I am genetically blessed, I guess. I work out because luckily I have a gym in my house, and it just makes things easier.
"Other than that, I'm more interested in being healthy and eating healthy, and staying fit, and looking good is just part of that."
And the actress insists she's not about to follow the Hollywood size zero trend.
"Each to their own. I'm not someone who starves myself, and wants to lose weight and look anorexic," she says.

Bipasha campaigns for the Taj

Bipasha Basu and Aishwarya Bachchan are madly in love so what better than to salute the one monument of love that India boasts about. Both the actresses have been involved in seeing that Taj Mahal is in the list of the seven new wonders of the world. It's no wonder that world-class Indian beauties are enlisted to sing praises of the Taj's beauty. Aishwarya, the Former Miss World, had released a hot air balloon in 2004 at the Taj Mahal to launch a campaign to include the monument in a list of the seven new wonders of the world. What Aishwarya began is now being completed by Bipasha as she has been chosen to host the New Seven Wonders of the World event in Lisbon on July 7.She will host the event alongside international stars such as Sir Ben Kingsley and Hillary Swank. It's rumoured that the Indian actress is so nervous about anchoring the event that she's ordered a pair of contact lenses for her myopic sight. Aishwarya Rai got full mileage in December 2004 when she released a huge balloon marked "N 7 W" for New Seven Wonders at the 17th century monument to love.So vote for Taj and give Bipasha Basu another reason to say Wah Taj.

Amrita Arora and Tanushree Dutta started sharing cold vibes

On the sets of Vikram Bhatt's 'Speed' two leading Bollywood stars Amrita Arora and Tanushree Dutta started sharing cold vibes. And later they took dislike for each other. Amu bond well with other co-stars including Aftab Shivdasani, Zayed Khan, Sanjay Suri and Aashish Chowdhury while Tanu kept to herself on the sets. Amu with other actors started going out for dines together while Tanu headed home alone. So, once Amu refers her as a 'not-so-friendly' actor. "Tanushree had complained about it to another co-star who told Amrita about it. Finally it ended up with both of them taking a dislike to each other," says a close source.

Ayesha Takia to pair with Salman Khan

Finally, the search for Salman Khan’s heroine in the Hindi remake of Telugu hit ‘Pokkiri’ seems to have ended.Ayesha Takia is rising fast in Bollywood. First, she was offered a lead role with Aamir Khan in the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Ghajini , which she turned down. Now she is being considered for the female lead opposite Salman Khan in the Hindi remake of Pokkiri .
Producer Boney Kapoor is remaking the Telugu superhit in Hindi and has roped in director Prabhudeva to wield the megaphone for the Hindi flick. However, the enterprising producer has not been able to find a suitable actress opposite Sallu in the film. The role was first offered to Deepika Padukonee , who turned it down for reasons better known to herself. Then Jiah Khan was also considered for the part, but the fiery newcomer’s remarks against Katrina Kaif in an interview haven’t gone well with Salman. Now, reliable sources indicate that Ayesha Takia is under consideration for the part. The source adds that there is a strong chance that Ayesha will sign on the dotted line soon.

What is ‘Pokkiri’ about?

‘Pokkiri’ tells the story of an undercover cop who works for a mafia don. His aim is to eliminate the gangsters by being a part of them. The movie was first made in Telugu by Puri Jagannadh. Prabhudeva directed the film’s Tamil version with Vijay and Asin . Prabhudeva is directing the Hindi film, too.

Kangana has a new secret passion

Kangana Ranaut, who shot to fame with her debut film "Gangster", has started taking classical singing lessons to silence critics who say her dialogue delivery is poor."I wake up religiously at 4 in the morning and get ready for my riyaaz (practice). My guru is Amitabh Chakraborty. He arrives on the dot at 5 in the morning and we practise for a good two hours before I leave for shooting."Apparently Kangana's neighbours in her building were initially wary of the music. Now they have got used to it.Kangana not only hopes to master the ragas but she is confident that classical singing would help her improve her voice quality."I'm sick and tired of people complaining about my dialogue delivery. I didn't want to just take diction and voice classes. That's why I decided to kill two birds with one stone."I'm grateful that my guruji agreed to teach me at this age. He says one can learn classical singing either before 13 or after 40. I don't fit into either category. But stubborn as ever, I insisted, and now Guruji is very happy with my progress."Such is her mastery over the ragas that Kangana hopes to release an album some day."And that's not all. Next I plan to learn guitar. Maybe Saif and I can perform at a concert together."

Tanushree Dutta restyling herself

The Bengali belle is hell bent on changing her image and fashion style.Tanushree Dutta is gorgeous and sexy. But her fashion sense and her styling have been out of place. Instead of accentuating her beauty and sex appeal, her styling dampens it.

It is not that Tanushree has been unaware of the constant criticism she has received for her fashion sense, but it was Bipasha Basu’s comments on Koffee With Karan that became an eye opener for Tanushree. On the show, Bipasha said that Tanushree was one actress in Bollywood who needed an image makeover.Although Bipasha’s comment hit her like a bolt, Tanushree does not deny the truth in Bips’ words.Tanushree says she has never been given an option to choose her own designer or stylist in films. But now Tanushree has decided enough is enough. She has got a new haircut, gotten rid of her old stylist and signed new stylist Babita Malkani, who has previously done styling for Geeta Basrs and Isha Koppikar .Tanushree has also joined gym to lose extra weight and she is following a diet regimen to stay in shape. On the other hand, Babita is selecting new outfits that will further enhance Tanushree’s curves and appeal. Babita says Tanushree has a very sensuous skin color. According to Babita, Tanushree should wear clothes in shades like nude cream, charcoal grey, blue and pink.Tanushree says it won’t be long when she would return with a new look and image.

Bipasha Basu back at the Bhatt camp!!!!

Dusky Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu is reported to be back at the Bhatt camp for a sequel to her first hit Raaz. Bipasha has also expressed her desire to work with Emraan Hashmi in the sequel to 'Raaz', called 'Raaz 2', which comes as a surprise because she had earlier refused to work with him, saying that he was shorter than her.

Apparently the Bhatts had offered Bipasha a film opposite Emraan but she refused to do it, saying they would not look good together on screen as he was shorter than her.Jism was the last time that Bipasha worked for the Bhatts. They did offer her some more films but she turned down their offers. But now Bipasha seems to have done a turnaround. She not only told Mukesh Bhatt that she would be happy to work in 'Raaz 2' but would also love to star with Emran.Emran, who is the Bhatt camp favourite because of his uncle Mahesh Bhatt , has come a long way as well and made a mark for himself. Guess, that must be playing on Bipasha's mind.

Priyanka broke a girl's nose during catfight

Priyanka Chopra has shown her fighting skills in Don and she is all set to do an encore in Goldie Behl’s Drona along with Abhishek Bachchan. There have been rumours of her catfight with Kareena Kapoor. In her childhood, Priyanka Chopra was interested in becoming a criminal psychologist. So is the action adrenaline connection a recently occurred phenomenon or does Priyanka have a history behind it?Well, if one reported incident is the judge, Priyanka Chopra was getting trained way back in her childhood. She did nothing extraordinary to master her fighting skills nor did she go out of the way. All she did was broke a girl’s nose in school! Yes, Priyanka actually broke a girl’s nose in her tenth grade in school. Thankfully, for a change in that age, the fight was not for a boy nor was it for some silly materialistic gain. Apparently, the girl said something racist to Priyanka at that point of time. She said some really annoying things to her. To top it all, the girl wanted to wash dirty linen in public. Priyanka agreed and broke her nose in the basketball court! Priyanka however has a golden, kind heart. After coming across the aforementioned incident, one would be forced to think otherwise. But Priyanka was never a heartless girl after all. The very next day, she went to the hospital to see her “victim” with flowers. She thinks it was a very gentle act as she was still scared of facing her that day. Today, decades later Priyanka’s good deeds make her shine proving that one incident actually is not sufficient proof of somebody’s nature. If you are wondering what happened to the girl punched by Priyanka in school, she was fine later and no, Priyanka was not punched back!

I wanted to be an IAS officer: Neha Dhupia

Bollywood oomph girl Neha Dhupia says her dream at one time was to become an IAS officer."What I plan never works out. So I have stopped planning now," Neha told IANS over the telephone. "I wanted to join the civil services and become an IAS (Indian Administrative Service) officer and did not have any plans to model or act."But, then, Miss India happened suddenly and now here I am, doing films."The 26-year-old actress, who bagged the Miss India Universe title in 2002 and a year later made her Bollywood debut in "Qayamat: City Under Threat", is currently shooting for a film "I'm 24", being directed by Saurabh Shukla."It is about a guy who is 42 years of age but has to lie that he is only 24 to get something," Neha explains. "The movie will show his struggles and hardships and then he meets me. I play the character of a struggling actress."The silver screen scorcher, well known for portraying bold characters in films such as "Julie" and "Sheesha", loves to travel, read and takes a keen interest in sports. And she says she would love to be part of a film that would capture and present her real character to the audience."I would love it if someone makes a film to showcase who Neha Dhupia really is. What I am, what I like and what I stand for."Dhupia says her stint at Bollywood has been great so far but adds, "There is still a long way to go and now I want to play different characters."

Happy Birthday Karishma!!!

Today is the day to say janamdin mubarak(Happy Birthday) to Karisma Kapoor. She was born on this day in 1974 in the city of dreams – Bombay, as it was back then. Of course, she’s come a long way since then. When she entered the Hindi movie industry in 1991 with Prem Qaidi, the actress herself greatly exceeded the popularity of the movie. Although 1992 through 1996 brought with them a series of movies, none of them stand out today. That is, of course, until Raja Hindustani came about in 1996. As the female lead opposite Aamir Khan, Lolo won her first Filmfare Award for this role. The next year brought with it the success of Dil to Pagal Hai and another Filmfare Award, this time for supporting actress. Lastly, Fiza brought with it the Filmfare Award again in 2000. The next year, she received the favor of most critics for her portrayal of a second wife in the film Zubeidaa. One of her movies, Mere Jeevan Saathi, released only last year because it was delayed. Although Karisma likes to keep her personal life under wraps, we know that she has been linked with Ajay Devgan and Abhishek Bachchan. In fact, the latter was actually engaged to Lolo, but they split up. She went on to marry industrialist Sanjay Kapur, and Abhi (in case you live under a rock or something) recently married former Miss World Aishwarya Rai. Progressing with that, surely Karisma thinks of 2005 as one of the best years, for that was when she gave birth to her beautiful daughter Samaira. Anyway, Lolo, you’ve come a long way in the industry and in your personal life. We know that there have been troubles, but what’s life without them? So take this birthday as an opportunity to sit back, relax, and prepare – because we know we haven’t heard the last from you yet!

Tabu wants to settle down?

The versatile actor has ended her exile this year with two films in a row; Namesake and Cheeni Kum. But she isn't too keen to appear in films regularly.

It's both good and bad news for all Tabu fans. The good news is that the versatile actor has ended her exile this year with two films in a row, The Namesake and Cheeni Kum . Now the bad news is that she isn't too keen to appear in films regularly.
Sources close to the actress say that she has had her share of success and now wants to settle down and enjoy a quiet life in her new state-of-the-art house that she is constructing in Hyderabad. And as for her marriage? That doesn't seem to be happening in her life right now! But she is enjoying every moment of it and it's not quite a cheeni kum life for Tabu!

Lara jhooms with cancer children

This was a wonderful event with a cause, so to speak. Lara Dutta took time off from her busy schedule on Saturday morning , and decided to mingle with cancer-afflicted children in Mumbai. A special screening of her latest movie was held for 250 children and as the special invitation read, the kids had a 'Ticket to meet Lara Dutta'.
And, it certainly was a double bonus for the children who were most excited to watch the movie, that too with Lara sitting amidst them. Ticket to Hollywood? Nah, a direct ticket to spend a morning with Lara Dutta! After the screening, the actress spent some quality time interacting with the children. She merrily chatted with them, clicked pictures with them, signed autographs for them and once the music began playing, she even danced with them! A bouquet of flowers, a small Ganesha idol, a card that read 'Thank you Lara for jhooming with us', and of course, the wide smiles on the faces of the children summed up how they felt.

Marry Salman? What nonsense: Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif is sick of rumours that she is marrying Salman Khan this month. In a chat withTWF correspondent Vickey Lalwani, she emphatically rules out marriage in near future, talks about her forthcoming films, and more.

Your performance has been appreciated in ‘Namastey London’...

Yeah. I am very happy. I have been around for quite some time now and I have really worked very hard. I am reaping the fruits now, I guess. I wouldn't say that I expected this to happen. What worked in the film's favour is that Vipul just stuck to the story in a very linear fashion and did not complicate it.

Have film-makers started taking you seriously now as an actress?

Yes, the perception of the people towards me has changed. It was very necessary for me to have a film like ‘Namastey London’. It has made my life a lot easier. My next aim is to take more steps like this in the forward direction.

Let's talk about ‘Apne’.

I signed ‘Apne’ nearly two years back. Anil Sharma had to do a lot of spade work before he started the film. That's why it took some time. I have seen Sharma's earlier films and I always wanted to work with him.

Were you intimidated by the Deols?

Not really. Dharamji is a very warm person. He is like family. Bobby has become a friend. I play a physician in the family. I had lot of fun wearing the boxing gloves whenever the director called 'Cut' and Bobby and I used to have a fake fight (laughs). But with Sunny, it did take me some time to break the ice. He is one who generally keeps to himself.

How do you feel when you hear that Salman is recommending you to film-makers?

I am working very hard. Nobody can do anything for you in this industry. I can understand if people said this in my early days, but I think now people should stop circulating false stories.

Its' also said that you call up for Salman's intervention if and when you have problems while you're shooting?

Bullshit. Fabrication of the highest order. Not that I take it seriously but people should stop talking nonsense. It's unfortunate that there are some people in this industry who just want to bring you down for no rhyme or reason.

What about your personal life?

Everybody says that you are marrying Salman this month...(Interrupts) I can't stop people from writing what they have decided to. Many actors are not accessible but I am. Why don't people call me up before writing things which are not true. All this is nonsense. I am working. I am happy.

Few days back, 500 people gathered outside Salman's residence thinking that he was marrying you that day?

Sometimes, people get carried away in excitement.

Do you believe in the institution of marriage?

I think that everybody does.

Have you and Salman discussed marriage?

Let's talk something else.

Have you had a fall-out with Ram Gopal Varma? He dropped you from his version of ‘Sholay’ and you not doing ‘Sarkar 2’ either...

(Interrupts) No. in fact, Ramu is one of my very good friends and we have stayed in touch after ‘Sarkar’. We are beyond petty things. ‘Sarkar 2’ was always meant to be with the Bachchans. As for his version of ‘Sholay’, I could not do it because of dates problem; He was actually supposed to start the film earlier but it got delayed due to many reasons.

What else is in your kitty besides ‘Apne’?

David Dhawan’s ‘Partner’, Aneez Bazmee’s ‘Welcome’, Saif Mustan’s ‘Race’ and Subhash Ghai’s untitled next.

Mallika Sherawat signs a film for free

Yes, she may have been in the news recently for making big bucks from small appearances, but now reports are that Bollywood sex-kitten Mallika Sherawat has signed a film for free. The lucky producer is Ronnie Screwvala whose next unnamed film has been signed by Mallika for free.

It is to be mentioned here that all actors and actresses pocket an amount when they sign a film, which is called signing amount.Mallika has been in the news recently because of her ten-minute Rs. 1.5 crore act in Himesh Reshammiya ’s debut movie as an actor Aap Ka Suroor and this was not the first time she did an expensive stint.Earlier too, Mallika charged a huge amount for just an item song in Guru and how can one forget the new year bash where she has been paid in lakhs for a ten-minute performance by a Mumbai based five star hotel. So Screwvala should be thanking to his stars that Mallika has signed his film for free. While on ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, its main attraction is said to be Mallika’s ‘Mehbooba’ number.Asha Bhosle has provided the vocals for the song Mehbooba which is a tribute to Panchamda. Mallika adds spice to the screen with her moves while dancing to mystic and eternally alluring Mehbooba. The song has Mallika dressed in a beautiful emerald green gypsy costume and she looks stunningly sexy. The costume is designed by Ashley Rebello. According to sources, this outfit was made as a tribute to Helen , who danced to the original ‘Mehbooba’ number in the cult classic Sholay .Mallika is planning to auction the same outfit on the film’s release date, June 29. The venue for the event is yet to be decided, but if reports are to be believed the event will be held at the film’s premiere in Mumbai.

Arrest me if I'm guilty: Shilpa Shetty

Despite a Supreme Court reprieve, Shilpa is tired of being repeatedly detained by immigration officers at the international airport in Mumbai.

After being harassed by immigration officers at the international airport in Mumbai 10 days ago, Shilpa Shetty was detained once again, when she was leaving for Turkey on Tuesday night. The situation was much the same. The authorities told her she couldn't leave the country as there was a look-out notice for her, she explained she had a Supreme Court reprieve; they refused to believe her until she produced the papers, (which she wasn't carrying ). What followed was hours of questioning and harassment. Again.
Shilpa and her mom were also detained on her return to Mumbai from London. "It was so bizarre," Shilpa exclaims. She says, "It would've been perfectly understandable to see the immigration officers doing their jobs well and I'd be the last person to come in the way of authorities doing their duties. But we patiently showed the clearance papers while leaving. And still we were questioned when I returned." Sounding a little upset, Shilpa said, "How does it feel to be treated so suspiciously in your home after being treated like a queen at an event in a distant foreign country? I guess I am no stranger to being given a raw deal at home, but still it hurts." Shilpa feels that she is being targeted . She says. "Whether it's an innocuous costume or an innocent kiss I'm being hauled up all the time. Arrest me if you believe I'm guilty of any offence. But I can't walk out of the country each time with a piece of paper in my shivering hands to prove I'm as free to travel as thousands of others, at the airport."

"Jhoom Barabar was exhausting": Preity Zinta

Mumbai, June 25 Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, whose recent performance in the multistarrer 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom' has received mixed reviews, says she, Abhishek Bachchan and Bolly Deol were exhausted doing the numerous dance sequences for the film which was shot in England.
Abhishek, Bobby and I are all Aquarians. We were so exhausted because we were constantly dancing,' she said. 'There's a lot of dancing in 'Jhoom...' Also, the lines were so funny. We had to work hard on getting it right. It's been a long time since I had so many funny lines to mouth.'
Preity also recalled the tough schedules they had while shooting for the film.
'We were located at the same place in London for such along time. We were there for three months at a stretch, and I was there right through,' she said.
'Fortunately Shaad works very quickly. But it was hectic and tough. I remember we shot 'Kiss of Love' in the freezing cold. During one of the lavish sequences Shaad turned around to say, 'This is the most expensive film I've shot. 'Saathiya' and 'Bunty Aur Babli' were lavish. But not like 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.'
'You know Shaad has the typical boarding-school enthusiasm. Everything is the best, biggest.'
